At Surekil Pest Control, we’ve been installing and managing termite baiting systems across the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads for more than 20 years. Termite Baiting Systems can be used for a stage 1 termite treatment or for ongoing termite management and protection.
For stage 1 termite treatments, a termite bait station, which contains a replacement food source typically containing an insect growth regulator, is installed where active termites have been found, such as a skirting board, door or window. This replacement food source will prevent the termites from moulting and eventually result in complete colony elimination.
For ongoing termite management, termite bait stations are installed at approximately 3 linear meter intervals around the perimeter of a property and will either contain timber or a compressed cellulose bait. The termite bait stations are checked at regular intervals, typically between 8 -12 weeks for termite activity.

It is not generally a matter of one or the other, depending on factors such as the type of construction of your property, whether the property is built on a flat or sloping block, the materials used, the surrounding environmental factors and conducive conditions one option may provide better protection that the other for example, a property built on a monolithic slab, on a flat block, would be better protected by a non-repellent chemical termite barrier whilst a split level home on a sloping block would likely be better protected by a termite baiting system.
There are a number of excellent termite baiting systems on the market, each of which provide some unique advantages. If the termite baiting system is going to be used for ongoing termite management, a baiting system that uses a compressed cellulose bait will minimise your risk of termite damage as the active constituent begins to work as soon as feeding commences and can therefore shorten the time to colony elimination.
Below are some of the industry leading Termite Bait Systems that we use:
Termite Baiting Systems: For ongoing termite management, Termite Bait Stations should be installed approximately 3 linear meters apart, therefore a property with a 60lm perimeter would require 20 Termite Bait Stations. Depending on the system, Termite Bait Station costs start from $90.00 each, supplied and installed.
